Hi! I'm Matt. I previously used the name 'Photography by Matt Jones', but have since changed to Headshots by Matt Jones to make things a little simpler.
I’ve been photographing actors since I first picked up a camera, and it's been the heart of my photography business since I started working professionally in 2018. I’m an actor as well as a photographer, and have made it my mission to provide genuine affordability and transparency within the high-end actor headshots market.
Acting headshots need to be true to who you are as a person, but also need to showcase who you can be, as an actor: Casting needs to click on your link and immediately see that you fit the role. Spotlight has recently changed to only display a single headshot at a time on your profile, so the first photo looked at will likely be the only photo looked at.
My job is to make sure you have the perfect photo for the role, every single time.
I see every headshot as a combination of smaller choices which add up to create a specific vision. We'll use subtle shifts in thought, posing, styling and colours to create a versatile range of photos which move you closer to your career goals.
Our shoot will take place in my comfortable, professional studio space in London, where I will guide you through every step of the way.

Frequently Asked Questions
Your shoot will take place in my studio at Thames-Side Studios in South-East London. Once you've booked you'll receive detailed directions, a google pin link and a site map for where to meet me on the day.
Yes! The site my Studio is located at has three free car parks, which are marked on the map you'll receive in the confirmation email.
You'll always receive your online gallery on the same day of the shoot.
Too many outfits is always better than not enough, so if in doubt, bring loads! If you're limited on bag space, 6 or 7 options is usually a good number. None of my headshot sessions have a limit on outfit changes. Bring as many as you'd like and we'll likely use a good amount of them within the timeframe of the shoot.
You always have 2 years of access to your online gallery, and can select your photos at any point in those 2 years, directly through the gallery.
It depends on which package you book. With the Pay-Per-Photo system, the photos are always £43, and with the Full Package or Unlimited Package, additional edits cost £15 each.
On a Full Package or Unlimited Package shoot I'll happily do full-length or portfolio shots! Here's some examples below:

Of course you can! I can shoot in pretty much any visual look in my studio, so whether it's Portraits, Portfolio Shots or Headshots, just send me an email via contact@photographybymattjones.co.uk with your mood-board, and we can go from there! I can also set a shared mood-board up for you if you'd like, just let me know!
Absolutely! I have enough chairs to go around, and they can even be in charge of the music if you like! Just make sure you choose someone who's presence will still allow you to focus on your shoot. There's also a selection of nice cafes on site, so if they don't want to stay in the studio the whole time, they can go to one of those!

I strongly believe that actor headshots should be priced in a way that suits every actor. I offer a high-end, attentive and personalised service at a rate which is significantly lower than the 'Industry Standard' rates, because without
headshots it’s near impossible to progress in the acting industry. That shouldn’t be a privilege hidden behind an ever-increasing paywall.
